Steps to Make Cold Brew
Step 1: Set up the Toddy Home Cold Brew System
Insert the stopper into the brewing container’s bottom. Wet the felt filter and place it inside the container.
Step 2: Prepare the Filter Bag
Place a filter bag inside the container and pour a small amount of room temp water to wet the bottom of the bag.
Step 3: Add Ground Coffee
Pour 200 to 250 grams of coarse ground coffee into the filter bag. The more ground coffee you pour, the stronger the brew becomes.
Side note: We offer a variety of specialty coffee blends and single origin beans. When placing your order, choose the “plunger” grind size- it’s perfect for making cold brew!
Step 4: Add Cold Water
Slowly pour 2L of cold water over the grounds.
Step 5: Mix Well
Use a spoon to gently stir the grounds, making sure all are saturated, especially the top layer.
Step 6: Brew Overnight
Twist the top of the filter bag to close it, then cover the brewing container with its lid. Place the container in the fridge for at least 8-12 hours or overnight.
Step 7: Drain the Cold Brew
The next day, remove the stopper to let the liquid flow into the glass decanter.
Step 8: Store the Cold Brew
Once all the cold brew has dripped into the glass decanter, cover it with the lid and store it in the fridge.
Pro Tip: Consume your cold brew within 5–7 days. Storing it longer may cause tangy or funky flavors.
Step 9: Clean Up
Discard the filter bag with the used ground coffee. Soak the reusable felt filter in hot water to remove any remaining coffee, then let it dry. Do not forget to wash the brewing container for your next batch!
Now you are all set to enjoy fresh, smooth cold brew!
