Colombia Whiskey La Esperanza

Limited Edition Coffee

Why this Single Origin?

Well, we have been on the quest for exciting, new alcohol-infused coffee experiences! And we are glad to add this amazing coffee into our Alcohol-infused Coffee Collection.   In comparison to our beloved Colombia Rum-aged coffee, our Whiskey-infused coffee introduces a distinct flavour profile. Imagine sipping Whiskey and Rum at a lively party. Whiskey tends to be lighter, less intense and more on the fruity, softer side- just like a smooth summer breeze taking center stage.

About the Coffee Bean

[The Story of the Farm]

This history of the “La Esperanza” farm started in the early 1960s where the farm was acquired by Gustave Hoyos and his family. The farm is situated on the “Alto de la Paz” mountain, translating to the “Mountain of Peace” in Spanish. With a history rooted in traditional coffee growing, the farm spans 80 fertile hectares with ideal volcanic soils for top-quality coffee cultivation. The “Campo Alegre” river, with its crystal-clear waters, meanders through the farm, nourishing the coffee plants. Native “Guadua” trees along the river provide nesting spots for birds, enhancing the farm’s biodiversity.

The farm has a long history of traditional coffee growers, spanning three generations, ensuring excellence in Colombian coffee production. They are dedicated to grow coffee of local varietals, under natural shade and also processing the coffee on the farms. Their dedication for their craft and coffee production is seen in their achievement of international quality certifications and good practices of production from UTZ Khape and FLO-Cert.

[Brewing Suggestions]

When enjoyed as Espresso, this Whiskey-infused brew packs a punch of grapefruit bitterness. With milk, it transforms into a delightful journey featuring toffee, pineapple tart, and vanilla sweetness. To enhance the experience, allow the coffee to cool slightly before sipping, as the bitterness is more pronounced when hot.For an extra refreshing twist, indulge in it as an iced coffee or an affogato! The subtle whiskey notes linger in the aftertaste, providing the sensation of sipping whiskey on the rocks.

[Additional Information]

Due to how the beans were processed at the farm, when the beans are roasted their appearance ends up looking like a dark roast. Also, we observed after roasting these beans became oilier than normal. So when you receive the beans, do not be surprised to see them dark and oily.

  1. Jimmy F

I’m very impressed by these beans. I could taste all the flavours, especially the whiskey undertone. I particularly enjoy it with milk – the flavours are perfectly balanced and mellow. If you like coffee, and you like whiskey, you won’t be disappointed with this!
