Superior Taste Award Coffee
The inspiration
Drunken Warrior is a labour of love, ignited by our passion to make Rum-aged beans accessible. This unique specialty blend was born from the challenge of taming the acidity in Rum-aged coffee beans.
Crafting this unique specialty coffee blend came with its share of challenges. Initially, we grappled with the inherent acidity of Rum-aged coffee beans, which could be quite intense when enjoyed on its own. Surprisingly, even adding milk did not always mellow it out. To find the right balance, we drew inspiration from the delightful flavours of Rum and Raisins ice cream.
Another hurdle was the art of blending five distinct single-origin beans and roasting them together. Our senior roaster skillfully navigated this complexity. In an espresso shot, you will encounter the bright acidity of stone fruit notes. Yet, with the addition of milk, the magic unfolds, rum, raisin, and dark chocolate nougat notes harmonised. Drunken Warrior is your ideal dessert companion, pairing exquisitely with cakes, ice cream, or any sweet indulgence.
Drunken Warrior is our pride, a testament to our commitment to exceptional coffee.

[About the Superior Taste Award]
The Superior Taste Award is an annual Sensory Analysis organized by the International Taste Institute. This event gathers a jury of over 200 professional taste experts from prestigious chef and sommelier associations. Each jury member is carefully selected based on their extensive tasting experience and their recognition in chef and sommelier competitions or top institutions like Le Guide Michelin and Gault & Millau.
Hailing from over 20 countries, the Taste Institute jury members are all external and independent. Their expertise in taste and their ability to provide valuable feedback are continuously evaluated and monitored by the International Taste Institute committee.
Each product is assessed using 5 Sensory Analysis criteria (AFNOR XP V096A standards): first impression, vision, olfaction, taste and final sensation. Product samples are never compared with each other; they are always evaluated based on their own intrinsic characteristics.
