Specialty, Not Speciality Coffee

Speciality Coffee?

The other day, we spotted a signboard that read: “Speciality Coffee.” Cue the panic. Wait… have we been spelling it wrong all this time?

So, we did what any reasonable coffee people would do, we asked ChatGPT. Turns out, both are correct!

  • Amercian English: specialty
  • British English: speciality (fancy, afternoon tea vibes)

But here’s the twist! In the coffee industry, it’s officially Specialty Coffee. No extra “i”.

Why?

Because it follows the SCA (Specialty Coffee Association), headquartered in the USA. And when we are talking about SCA-certified, we are talking top-tier beans, carefully sourced, meticulously processed, and roasted to perfection.

So, whether you spell it specialty or speciality, just make sure you never mis-spell the flavour!

At Mighty Wonders Coffee Roasters, we specialise in Specialty Coffee. Yes! Spelled the American way, but always roasted the Mighty way. From bold blends to unique single origins, our lineup is packed with deliciousness.

Now you know… It’s Specialty Coffee. Spelled with love (and no extra “i”)
